保津川は観光遊船をスムーズに通す為に、ラピット（瀬）数カ所に人工的に胴木（丸太）を入れている。
所謂人工のストレーナー。特に獅子が淵の下瀬と、保津峡駅手前の朝日の瀬下が要注意。写真は獅子が淵に胴木を入れている所と、ホール状態の朝日の瀬で上下3本が入っている。
左右のワイヤーで平行にし、土嚢と石で沈めて設置。に胴木が浮いている状態時が絡まる恐れが有る。
保津川ダウンリバーの時はくれぐれもスカウティング（偵察）を忘れずに。
